This event is open to the public and will be held on the Rio Piedras Campus.  The lecture time is to be determined.

In addition to her lecture, Dr. Goodall will visit various schools to support the growth of Roots & Shoots programs in Puerto Rico and the larger Caribbean region.  She will also visit rural areas of Puerto Rico to meet coffee growers & farmers and discuss sustainable farming efforts.

Roots & Shoots programs are sprouting up in public and private schools and universities throughout Puerto Rico. The University of Puerto Rico’s recently established Roots & Shoots program is working closely with Puerto Rican coffee growers and farmers associations, such as Cafi Cultura Puertorriqueña, to implement sustainable agriculture practices.  Roots & Shoots members are also working with cultural and historical centers, including the Fundacion Luis Munoz Marin.

About Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots
Founded in 1991 by Dr. Jane Goodall and a group of Tanzanian students, the Roots & Shoots program is about making positive change happen—for our communities, for animals and for the environment. With tens of thousands of young people in 110 countries, the Roots & Shoots network connects youth of all ages who share a desire to create a better world. Young people identify problems in their communities and take action. Through service projects, youth-led campaigns and an interactive website, Roots & Shoots members are making a difference across the globe. For more information, please visit www.rootsandshoots.org.
