Dr. Goodall will give a presentation at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on Sunday, September 27, to raise awareness about the plight of Great Apes and raise funds to establish a permanent sanctuary for orphaned mountain gorillas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. 
 
The "Making the Connection" presentation, hosted by Canadian Friends of Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project, will also feature Dr. Mike Cranfield, Executive Director of the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project and Mr. Andre Bauma, head caretaker of orphaned gorillas in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
 
Dr. Goodall began her research of chimpanzees in Gombe, Tanzania in 1960 and founded the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 to combat the destruction of critical habitat for chimpanzees and other African wildlife. 
 
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer segment with Dr. Goodall following the lecture.  A book signing for Dr. Goodall's book, Hope for Animals and Their World: How Endangered Species Are Being Rescued from the Brink, and a photo opportunity with Dr. Goodall will also be held after the presentation.  Dr. Goodall's book will be published on September 2, 2009. 
 
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. All ticket proceeds will go towards the creation of a permanent sanctuary for orphaned mountain gorillas in the Congo.
